Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
We are in the middle of Summer Vacation, and my hope is that you are enjoying the season, both as individuals as well as families. One month from Today we will be celebrating 69th Independence Day of India, our Motherland, and the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our heavenly Mother. Yes, dear friends, August 15 is a day to be remembered and celebrated. There is no better way to observe this Solemn Day than by celebrating/participating in the Holy Mass. Holy Eucharist is the center of Catholic Faith. But how great it would be if we can celebrate this faith of ours in our own language of Tamil, flavored by our ancient culture, and accompanied by faithful people, who speak the same language and are immersed in the selfsame culture. So let us gather once again as the Tamil Catholic Family from the Capital Area in celebration of faith. Let us express our faith by gathering in great numbers. Let us not hide our faith and culture under a bushel! Let us prayer for our Country! Let us invoke the intercession of Mother Mary!
We have a special intention we want to pray for in this Mass. Our Children will be commencing soon their school year. We want to bless these children of ours; we want to call upon them the many gifts of the Holy Spirit. We want to pray that the Lord may grant them knowledge, understanding, and wisdom so that this scholastic year 2015-16 will be a great year for them. So come in as a family. You as parents, along with us, the Spiritual Director and priests - we will bless your children, and pray for them. Prepare, therefore, your children beforehand for this day, not merely externally, but also internally. Tell your children why this day is going to be important for them, and how they need God’s blessings as they begin their school year!
According to the holy Gospel of Luke 24:30-31, the disciples recognised the Risen Lord Jesus in the breaking of the Bread (Eucharist).
